That was fundamentaly a case of price gouging by the vendor. The JDM tails carry the SAME list price as their stock counterparts in Japan. There is no reason anyone should ever have paid more then $300-350 a pair for tail lights. Same is true for the red stitch shift knob - they used to be well over a $100 in the US but carry a lower list price then the black unit. JSpec fascia again same story... don't kid yourself into thinking that ANY of the '99 parts for the Z32 carry a significantly higher list price in Japan then say a 90-96 part.
Courtesy, Oppanman and all the rest made PLENTY of money on marking up prices by 2 or 3 fold over Nissan list.
